I used pictures from the Hawaiian work and the desert landscape work to produce a one of a kind artist book with original prints titled The Tale of the Lizard. The book was divided into four chapters of images with an essay introducing each chapter.
In a review of this work the Washington Post critic Jo Ann Lewis said
"Photographer Frank DiPerna is such a master of atmospheric nuance that you can almost feel the barometer drop in his latest color landscapes at Kathleen Ewing….The results often have an element of narrative drama or playfulness that has little to do with specific place….That DiPerna now also turns out to be a gifted writer should not be too surprising given his powers of observation… the exhibition includes a handmade book of original photographs and short stories collectively titled The Tale of the Lizard."
